I'm looking for a Christmas gift for my mom and she said two words, Fernando Ortega. So I googled and am very interested with the website. Now I just need to find out which ones to buy and which to keep for her birthday. I'm so lost. Which would be best to get? Anything would help. Thanks!

Fernando,
I am always moved toward the Lord by your lyrics and your wonderful voice. I thank the Lord for your music, and that you have used your gifts to praise Him. My roots are from Mora, New Mexico. My mother comes from Ledoux, near Mora and my father is from Maes, N.M.
Again, thank you for your using your gifts in ushering in the Holy Spirit.
Please respond if you can.

I have been listening to your music for five years now, but never had the opportunity to see you in concert until last night in Madsion. I listen to your music in the morning when I awake, and in the evening when I lay down to sleep. I am a single mother and find comfort in your music. In February this year my younger brother past away at a very young age after suffering from a kidney disease for thirty years. I chose your song "Beyond The Sky" as the song from a CD that could be played at the funeral. My family asked who the Artist was, everyone loved the song. Also, thirty six years ago, at the age of 14 my first love went away to be a Marine. He has been in Califoria all this time and we have just been reunited. Shortly after this happened I picked up your new CD, and to my surprise there was your song "California Town". You are a very talented, sincere, and beautiful person. I love Jesus, and I love you and your music! Bless you, your wife, and your kitty's

I happened to hear on the radio yesterday that you would be in Madison performing that night. I just had to go. I saw you when you were touring with Watermark. You really speak to my heart and your concert last night was very special. I really enjoyed your stories. I think the "Winter Song" is the best Christmas song I ever heard, but I cannot find it on your cds. I would love to know how I can get it!
Merry Christmas to you,your

Absolutely loved your concert last night in Madison, Wisconsin. Your sense of humor is right up my alley! Laughed and cried with you all night. God has used your music mightily in my life. Last time you were in Madison, I was at UW-hospital with my oldest son in intensive care after he suffered a traumatic brain injury while skiing. Your music helped to lift me then and last night your Give Me Jesus reduced me to tears.
BTW, my husband and I were on staff with CCC for 20 years from 1977-1997 and I DO remember Alfredo Ortiz!!!
Hope you get rid of that nasty cold!

Fernando, (and concert help),
Thank you for a great concert last night. The first time I heard you was with Michael Card in the Memorial Union Theatre, and your song about your grandfather was my favorite that night. It was again last night, although it was all superb! I was secretly asking God that you would play it, and then to hear from you that you don't always play it, I felt blessed from Him that you did.
Every concert you do should have that song included. What a legacy you have!

I saw you perform at Anne Graham Lotz's Just Give Me Jesus conference in Chicago, Il back in September. That weekend that changed my life. When you sang Give Me Jesus, the tears just flowed as it dug down to my soul. The words of that song were the cry of my heart, coming out of a spiritual dry period into one of renewal and growth. I thank God for you and your obedience to God's will as you continue to praise His name! Dios te bendiga!

I am a third grade teacher and came across a story in our reading anthology that was about a Mexican weaver from the mountains, Los Ojos del Tejedor, or the Eyes of the Weaver, written by a woman with the last name of Ortega. You must be related but I am curious to know how. One of my collegues at school introduced me to your incredible songs and I immediately made the connection to the story we just finished reading in class. We are both Christians who pray once a week for our school and children. What a blessing your music has been to us, uplifting and heavenly. God gifted you and your family with creativity and a love for the Lord, which you share so beautifully. I am sharing your music with my future son-in-law who lives in Mexico City, and my daughter who speaks fluent Spanish. God bless all that you continue to do and create.

I heard a song on the radio one day singing about "remember the san gabriels" "lift me over the san gabriels" and that you were the mentioned artist singer.I haven't heard it since and could not find that title in your album list. I bought your worship CD, but would really like to get that song. Beautiful paino work, and very blessed soothing vocals: from someone enduing a season of particular hardship.

My wife and I have enjoyed your music for many years now. We recall hearing you for the first time at a concert held at Northwest Nazarene College near Boise - although your were just "introduced" by another artist, your one or two contributions were the unplanned highlight.
Your presentation of traditional Christian music, as well as your portrayal of real life - which, after all, is where God would have us live out our faith and lives - is appreciated.
The song "All that Time" is poignant, but I am left unsure of the circumstances it paints. What were they?
Thank you.

Hi. I had not been able to listen to your music for almost two years because my wife really enjoyed your work and about two years ago she died in my arms in a grocery store parking lot of a heart attack. Well, I was in a bookstore the other day and I saw the DVD. I figured I would buy this and watch. It was alittle difficult and I cried abit at the beginning but by the time you were singing about your cats, I was laughing. Thank you for this DVD.
Also, the team I worked on for a while at work adopted traveler as their theme song. I was able to introduce your music to my team. We were all traveling alot installing computer networks for warehouses for Sears. This was a really cool witnessing tool. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

Fernando,
I went to your concert in Bloomfield, NJ, and LOVED it!! I love your music, and was thrilled to go finally. I am trying to keep in mind that you are so fascinated with bugs, rather than my instinctual freak out mode! In fact, today a great article was listed on www.ChristianityToday.com at http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2004/012/18.58.html Maybe I can have a new perspective on bugs!!
I had a concert of prayer for the persecuted church and played your song, "If I Flee on Morning Wings". This song is intensely comforting knowing that God is with us, no matter where we go!
Your lyrics are an art form in worship, praise Him!

Hi Fernando- I am so excited that you are coming to Riverside and that I know about it! As trite as it might sound, you ARE my favorite artist. I am enjoying your CAMINO LARGO album while I drive around in my car.
But since Spanish isn't my primary language, I would enjoy the songs even more if I had the SPANISH words to read, understand, memorize and sing to my hearts content. Is there any way to obtain the word to the songs on that album? The words weren't included on the cassette jacket.
Thank you for your music!

Hello Fernando...just wanted to tell you how very much I enjoy your music! My daughter and I agree that you are not only a fine musician, but a poet as well. Almost 4 years ago, my son lost his wife in a car accident. It was a very painful time for our family, as you can imagine. Shortly after returning to N. J. (I stayed in Ohio where my son lives for several weeks in order to help him and his small son) my friend encouraged me to attend your concert at America's Keswick. I was reluctant to go, as I was so exhausted and "spent" from the grief I was experiencing. It is difficult to see one's child in so much pain. I did attend the concert, and it was such a good thing...your music ministered to my troubled heart, and I found myself greatly encouraged. So here I am thanking you for that..just a wee bit late! I recently attended your concert in Bloomfield, N.J....my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Thanks for coming out after the enthusiastic applause at the end...you sang "Jesus King of Angels"...one of my favorites! Your music is delightful...the words so often bring just the right message at just the right time! Thank you, and may God continue to bless and keep you! By the way, my son was recently remarried...God is so good...He carried us through the pain and has restored our joy! We are so filled with Thanksgiving and praise for His constant presence in our lives! In Christ, Colleen Fantini

Dear Fernando, Your new song Take Heart My Friend is wonderful Everytime I hear it I think of someone else I need to pray for. A friend bought me the CD for my birthday. I haven't heard from my brother in over 3 months. He just called tonight to let me know he is in re-hab in Gallop New Mexico. He's turned his life over to the Lord. He is a wonderful musician and I am going to send him your CD. I want to introduce him to a kind of music he has never heard. Something to touch his heart and help him on his walk. Thank You for sharing your gift. Jennifer Sam
P.S. Please keep my brother in your prayers. I haven't seen him in 12 years.

Hello Fernando ~ Your new CD is better each time I listen. I can't tell you how much your gift of song continues to bless me ... lift me to Jesus side. Thank you so much. You know, I read in your journal about how you keep getting sick with bronchitis, sore throats and stuff. I know of some medicine which has been a true God-send for us... Echinacea from a small Christian farm in Kansas. It tastes absolutely horrible, but it will keep you well! It's truly the best in the world (if you can get it down.)You can order it right from Teardrop Farm. Just tell the farmer that I sent you *smile* ~Blessings to you and Margee~ Deb

What a GREAT surprise for me when I heard 2 days before your concert in Bloomfield that you were in town! Dear Fernando,
This Thanksgiving season I am especially thankful for the music you and your team of wonderful musicians have created. The rainbow of feelings and thoughts expressed, the use of different instruments; it is all so wonderful.
I tried to convince my younger son that I could converse with him on music by buying some hard rock Christian CDS. He then laughed and told me one was a copy of....., another too simplisitc in chord structure and rhythm...etc. So, I gave up and popped in one of your CDs. He said, "Now there is someone who is original. He is real." So, out of the mouth of a tricky teenager, there you go--your band is okay.
--Love it when you have acoustic bass and cello and fiddle. Heard the cellist with his rich chocolate cake sound at Willow, and the bass with his full bodied sound at Moody. Wow!
Thanks to you and your team,

Hey man,
I listen just about everyday to "Sing to Jesus" and "Lord of Eternity". Wow, the stillness and the peace I feel is overwhelming and I am driven to tears. It is wonderful to feel God's holy presence within just a few seconds God becomes the focus and center of my life and that is a good thing. I am still a sinner and that will never change but none of that matters when I commune with my Lord and Savior. Thank you for helping me to put the focus back on God through your music. from a Real Rhapsody subscriber thank you and God bless you and yours.

HEy Mr. Ortega. One of my favorite aspects of your music is the stillness it embodies. It has this beautiful element of peace. And it is genuine. You don't sing about trivial things; much of your music addresses God directly in worship. Thanks. I saw you with Waterdeep once, and you said that you appreciated their music because of how many times their songs included instances of 'you'. Your music is a blessing in the same manner. Often when I want to be still and talk to Him, I will listen to your music. Your "Jesus, King of Angels" is such a worshipful song. Thanks to God for such blessings. Continue to be blessed.

Greetings Fernando: I was just reading the Guestbook entries, and I saw a note from Julie in Los Alamos, NM. She was talking about a concert you did at the Los Alamos High School. I am really disappointed that I did not know about that concert. I would have loved to have been there. I check you tour schedule pretty regularly, looking for concerts somewhat close to me, but I didn't see mention of Los Alamos. Is there someplace I should check besides your tour bus icon on your website? I do really enjoy the new CD, and I had fun watching the Live in St.Paul DVD. Watching someone perform their music is alot different from listening to it on a CD. Lots of fun to watch. I have your CD "Hymns of Worship" in the CD player in my car, and it listen to it ALL the time. I wonder if you plan to make another CD with just hymns on it? I think that would be great! I hope I get to see you in person some day. Keep on with all your good works, and may God continue to Bless you. Mary Evelyn, LaPlata, NM

We just saw your concert in Blomfield,NJ and loved it immensely! I was sitting next to the girl who went on a missions trip with Zoey Girl to Quito. I wish I had spoken up like her when you spoke of the Amish. Reason being I am from upstate NY and live very near to the Amish country. At first I was a bit confused about your comments about the Amish and thought you were poking fun about them. But after viewing your DVD which I purchased at the show, I realized you wrote Children of the Living God in honor of the Amish. I don't know if you respond to these emails, but I would be very interested in hearing more of your interest in the Amish.

Hi Fernando,
I'm not sure whether I should write this, as it might sound snippy, and that is certainly not my intention, but I cannot imagine what Susan (a couple of posts down)heard at Bloomfield. I just went through your set list for that night, and the whole tour just completed, and came up with a list of twelve songs that are undeniably "devotional" or "worship" songs including Rock of Ages, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Creation Song, Jesus King of Angels, Children of the Living God and Lord of Eternity. There were a total of six songs that might be considered just living-the-Christian-life type songs, like Road Song, or Virginia Rose. You always introduce songs to tell us how something applies to your life as a Christian--or how God works in our day-to-day lives. Sharing the story of your friend, Mildred, encourages me to continue to do good works; only God knows how those things will be used to bless or encourage someone. California Town reminds me to enjoy every moment God gives me with my husband. Perhaps what some people really want is a church worship service not an evening of Christian entertainment. I, personally, am forever blessed and uplifted by not only your music but also your constant devotion to our Lord and your willingness to share your struggles, failings, strengths and hysterically funny observations with your audience. It's all part of the experience of living life on this Earth. Until we die there will be drangonflies, and friends and road trips. Thank God for that. And I thank God for you.
Take heart, my friend.

Dear Fernando,
I was at the concert that you did in Brookdale Baptist church on Nov. 13 - and I must admit I was sadly disappointed. I was expecting to hear and worship with you but there were so few songs about the Lord (maybe 4). I had attended one of your concerts in Scotch Plains a few years ago and I was so led to worship the Lord - what was the purpose of singing about your cat, friend and dragon fly etc. I really wanted to worship the Lord in song.

Dear Fernando,
My husband and I came to see your show at Moody on November 12th. We were the 2 that got there really early and met you before the show. I told my husband that the only thing I want to do before I die is to meet Fernando Ortega. So you can understand how star struck I was when that unexpected moment arrived. Of course I said something really stupid to you and didnt realize that I said it until it was too late- I told you that you were my biggest fan. I blew my only moment to talk to you-what I really meant to say was that you have changed my life in so many ways. Through your music I grow closer to the Lord each day. Your songs and storys uplift me, inspire me and remind me that the only reason worth living for is to love and serve the Lord. I had never listened to Christian music until I heard you sing, "Glory be to Our Great God" in Aug. of 2002. Now I listen to nothing else.Thats what I really meant to say, my lips just couldnt move the right way. And now I can say that you are the most amazing person Ive ever met. Thank You for all that you do...
Much Love,

The Friday Night Sing at Moody was a treat! Maybe someone can help me though: I'm trying to find a recording of an older song you did with the lyrics - "my soul wells up, sing Alleluia" It had descriptions of nature - "breaching whales", etc. I heard this at Willow Creek Church years ago with a slide montage of nature scenes - very haunting and memorable. I have most of your CD's but this song is not on them. - Thanks!

Yo Fernando
I feel like some rock groupie. But I was so moved by your concert Saturday night at Willowdale I felt compelled to write. I'm not your die hard christian music fan. I love rock bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull etc., progressive rock bands with a mysteriously dark (not evil) edge. But I do have a soft side, James Taylor, John Denver and Amy Grant. And it was at one of her concerts (Easton, PA) that we got to hear you. Since then I've compiled a collection of old and new Ortega cds. And what a welcome addition this has been. But the reason I'm writing is to tell you and your band how incredibly great you guys sounded. Pure is about as close as I can get to putting a word to it. Congrats and good luck. Oh by the way we DO have plenty of coyotes in Pennsylvania...and they get BIG.
Good Luck

Hi Fernando:
The Friday Night Sing at Moody was amazing. It was great to meet you in person after the concert. I told you I teach in a Christan school in the Chicago area. I play, "This Good Day" every morning as my students enter the classroom. It's awesome. I thought your "prank" on Trini about the soap carving was hysterical. By the way, please tell Rich, I collect antique kitchen utencils. It's kind of a joke. I bring them to work on Monday and we all try to figure out "what the heck" it was used for. Thanks for sharing your gift. Travel safe.

I was lucky enough to be one of the people who got to go to the Friday Sing in Chicago on the 12th. It was such a suprise for me and an awesome one at that. My friends suprised me with this as a birthday present and I was so excited. Your music is incredible. The first song of yours that I heard was "Give me Jesus" and I remember thinking that it was amazing and that was 3 yrs. ago. At the concert, my friends were all excited because they knew almost all of those songs and they could sing along, but for me, they were just about all new. I recognized maybe 5 of them because your music is still so new to me. After that first song, I never really thought much about your other music until it was re-introduced to me within the last year or so. It was so exciting to hear so many new ones. They reach me in ways that other songs can't. Thank you so much for being such a servant for God in all that you do. I can't wait to see you again at a future concert! Thank you again!
~God Bless

Fernando,
I work in Data Entry and listen to Christian music all day. What a blessing that is.
I just want to let you know that on the days when I am uptight I always put your CDs in and like magic Gods words sung through you brings me back to earth. Listening to you is like taking a vacation and watching the sun set with all the colors of the rainbow over the ocean.
The concert at Fairhaven was
amazing. Thank you for having the words for us to praise God from our hearts.
I hope you come back to Dayton, Ohio again. You touched all our hearts with your love for Jesus.
May God bless you all and keep you safe in Jesus name I pray.

I don't know if you remember me from UNM (cellist), but it has been so exciting to follow your career. I love your music and the way you mix the old hymns in with your own compositions. You are such an inspiration. I hope you will consider a concert in Colorado Springs sometime soon. It would be great to see you again! In the meantime...let the music flow!

Dear Mr. Ortega,
I was at the Friday sing last night in Chicago. I'm confused about something. Some of your songs give praise to Jesus Christ but you yourself did not during the entire concert. Why is that? My husband came to your concert never having been to a "christian" concert before and he did not hear anything from you regarding the Lord, His grace, His mercy, etc. This one time I have an opportunity to have him with me at a "christian" event and there's no mention of what God has done for you in your life at all. He listens to your music and yet you, as a man yourself, do not proclaim the Lord.
I am wondering why you do what you do if it isn't to glorify the One who gave you the talent in the first place.

Hi Fernando! I just listened to your Friday Sing Concert at Moody, WOW! I am a native Californian, live in Chicagoland now, lived for five years in Farmington, NM (my oldest daughter and her new family live there still), was raised a Presbyterian, but now attend Parkview Christian Church (lots of bands and singing!), and always listen to Moody Broadcast! Your new song about your California home-town made me soooo very homesick! I grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes Peninsula,CA, and miss the ocean a lot! I could almost see, hear and smell my Pacific Coast (Redondo) beach listening to your song! Thank you for your God inspired music, and the cute/funny songs too! God Bless you and your family!
(P.S. My son just married a girl with the last name Ortega, small world, huh?!?)
P.P.S. Wish I could have my sister, who lives in Irvine, CA, look you up to say Hi!

Hi Fernando, I saw you @ the Just Give Me Jesus conference in Chicago on Sept. 10th. I bought 2 of your CDs with the intent of sending one to my brother in Texas. I wanted him to hear your song "This Good Day" because it's one of my favorites. He was found dead @ age54 in his apartment on Sept. 13th.He was a marriage and Family therapist. During the days before his funeral I was listening to your "Hymns of Worship" When I heard your song "Pass Me Not" I knew we wanted to play it @ his funeral. It was so fitting as he was searching for the Lord, and we believe he was saved before he died. We also played your "Give Me Jesus" at the funeral. I know if he would have heard your music, he would have loved it. Thank you so much for your music, it blesses me so much! Keep the great songs coming til Jesus comes! Love in Christ, Lois

I love your ministry. I saw you in concert with my sister in Chambersburg, PA several years ago, & have been a huge fan ever since. Your music is so relaxing & such a blessing. Also, I used to play the accordian when I was younger & took lessons for 9 years. I'm 51 now & just recently started playing it again. When I hear it in your music, I just love it - it brings back great memories. Keep it up - know you are loved in PA!

Fernando,
I was recently introduced to your music by my Granny who was diagnosed with lung cancer just 8 weeks ago. Your music seemed to speak to her soul. She went home to be with Jesus on Nov. 2nd. with your music playing in the background while several members of our family sat by her bedside. We played your music during her wake also. It was such a heart warming feeling to have something she loved so much setting the tone in the room. I was given her cd's & I play them daily. Thank you for such a wonderful ministry! i'm so glad we picked up your album. rarely have i bought a cd only to have almost every song become a favourite. i first heard "take heart my friend" on the radio and was so heartened by the lyrics and the gentle voice singing them. it seemed God had inspired that song just for me and my family. it has become my husbands and my theme song, becuase of the changes we are going through (a relocation) which includes many "opportunities" for dependence and growth in our God. Then after we purchased the cd imagine my delight at all the other songs that have touched me since. i think the biggest thing your music does for me after i hear the message is it stops and makes me feel. throughout the business of the day with kids and schedules and priorites, i don't often stop and allow myself to be....and to feel...your music makes me do that. i desperately want to know the stories behind some of them....especially "all that time". will i have to wait for a concert to come near me or will i write you and get the scoop.
keep journalling your thoughts through your music.
God bless and keep you.

Hello Fernando,
Just a few words from an old schoolmate and friend to say I was thinking of you and your songs throughout the years. I have admired you through the years and have been so excited for your success. The last time I saw you was at our 20 year reunion from Valley High. Before that, I saw you perform at Hoffmantown Church in Albuquerque, NM. I was so please to see you still remembered me when I walked up to have you sign one of your CDs. I kept it until my divorced of 19 years of marriage-it got lost through all the shuffle. I am doing fine though.
My request to you is to find one of your songs that will provide me inspiration, hope, and serenity in my life. Please provide the name of this song and/or CD so I can purchase and listen to it when I need uplifting or just when I am just plain enjoying life and being happy.
Fernando, please take care and hope all things are well for you. From a faraway schoolmate and friend that has always admired you.
Best regards,

I first heard you in Chattanooga several years ago. It was just you, a piano, and a cello. I had never heard of you and didn't know what to expect. I will never forget the feeling of serenity and peace that flooded my soul throughout the concert. You ended with the song "Jesus King of Angels" and it left me with silent tears of thanks to the Wonderful God who watches us and comforts us. Thank you that you still keep core christianity in you music today. I greatly appreciate it...the depth and power of the hymns. Please don't stop using them. Their message is simple and timeless. Thanks again for using your gift to bring us closer to Christ.

When I came back to Jesus after turning my back on Him for 20 years (but He protected me in amazing ways the whole time), I found a good, bible based church as a home. As part of changing my lifestyle I started listening to Christian radio. Your song "This Good Day" helped me to see that the church and more importantly Christ's love are constantly alive and growing. The feelings of the words remind me of the old favorite of mine (which you also covered exceptionally well) "This is My Father's World", but brought those feelings up to a more contemporary world. I never took the time to thank you for the concert you put on here in Green Bay with Andrew Peterson. Being a recently re-born Christian at that time, I can't put into words how seing Christ's love on the stage helped to give me the freedom to grow beyond the walls of the church and to reach into the community with what few talents I have been graced with. Thank you very much for the wonderful music that you have blessed us with. Take care and God bless. CurtE

Dear Fernando,
"Give Me Jesus," blesses my heart in a way that no other hymn ever has. When I read its history, I was astounded. My husband and I played it all during our wedding ceremony and we go to sleep by it every night. It repeats on our CD player over and over until we fall asleep, just after we pray. I just want to thank you for your music ministry. My husband came with me to the Seattle Just Give Me Jesus conference at the beginning of October. Every night my 3 yr old daughter, Brianna, listens to your CD's while going to sleep. Just recently she asked me, "Mommy, what's his name? The man that sings to me." I replied, "His name is Fernando Ortega." She looked away for a moment then turned back to me and exclaimed, "Tega!" I guess she thought I was giving her an option when she heard the "Or."
So now you are lovingly referred to around our house as "Tega."

Hey Fernando!
Just wanted to say thanks for your awesome music ministry. When I want to be put into a mood of worship, I just pop in one of your CD's and there I go.
The reason I am writing today is that I came across Psalm 3:3-6 yesterday and thought that it might make a great song for you. It reminded me of some of the music that I have heard from you. Take a look!
3 But You, O LORD, are a shield about me,My glory, and the One who lifts my head.
4 I was crying to the LORD with my voice,And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah.
5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me round about.

I have so very much enjoyed your music over the last few years. The songs seem to cover the gamut of human emotion and spiritual praise. There are favorites that still pierce my heart and elicit a stillness, as being in the Lord's presence. Your singing of old hymns with evident fervor has brought new life to their glorious lyrics. Good stuff. Three years ago I moved here from New Mexico (nothing like those NM skies & green chile, huh?). When I drive down there, I pop one of your CDs in as I go through Raton pass. I thank you and thank God for the gifting that so beautifully flows through you.

Fernando,
After hearing you live at a "Rekindle the Romance"
conference in Indianapolis, Indiana this past August, I truly believe your voice is a precious gift from God. I love the music, especially the hymns. The beauty of your voice without a multitude of instruments is heavenly. I have never heard such beautiful sounds to meditate on. A music ministry like yours is priceless!
In Christ's love,

I was blessed with being able to attend the "JUST GIVE ME JESUS" conference at the United Center this fall. What an awesome weekend of revival. It was my first exposure to you and what a tremendous impact your music has had on me. My heart just swells with love for my Lord and I reflect on the words of your songs. I just bought your new CD for my unchurched sister. She was very moved by it and continues to comment about how much she has enjoyed it. God can use anything - and I believe he is using your music to soften my sister's heart.
Thanks for serving HIM!

Fernando,
I am one of the many that is blessed to say that Mildred Madalyn Johnson was my GREAT Aunt. There are no words to say just how special she was to everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Aunt Mil opened her heart and home to many. She loved everyone who passed through her door. Thank you so much for your song. Word has spread and I'm sure everyone in our family has a copy of your CD. Mildred Madalyn Johnson was truly a great woman and she is in my thoughts daily. Thanks again for letting everyone know just how special she was and what an impact she made on all those who knew her.

Your song, Take Heart My Friend, spoke to me in a very special way. I was feeling very uncertain about the samples that I was taking around to restaurants (pie samples) and your song came on and just soothed away my concerns. While I had heard your song before, this time was different in that it was like and answer to prayer and concerns. It really felt like God was speaking to me through your song. Incidentally, I made one of the two sales that I was working on.
Thank you for your wonderful music!

Your music has been such a blessing to me! My sister introduced me to your music several years ago, when she bought the album Give Me Jesus. It was the most beautiful song I've ever heard. I love how you sing so many of the old hymns, and how the songs you write focus on Christ, and draw the listener closer to Him. Your song, If You Were Mine, ministered to me in a very special way a couple of years ago. About a month after our son was delivered stillborn, my husband came across an album of yours in the store that we had never heard of--This Bright Hour-- and was so excited to buy it. When the song If You Were Mine came on, it's lyrics caught me by surprise, and how I wept. But I loved that you put the focus on God's goodness! He is so good, and works all things together for good to those that love Him. We look forward to hearing you in Dayton next week! God bless you!

Fernando,
Though I read the Bible and pray as I struggle and stumble in my Christian walk, your words and music comforts, inspires and reassures.
Your album "Breaking Of The Dawn" came into my life at a time when I needed to hear again the message that God is good, that I am a forgiven sinner and hummbled before the Lord.
Take care, God bless.

Hello Fernando,
I just heard you at Just Give Me Jesus in Seattle '04. I was very impressed when you stopped singing once in a while on Friday night and looked around and listened to us singing - I was way up in the high sections. But the way you looked around and the look on your face made me think that God sometimes stops everything He's doing JUST to listen to us. It was very touching for me to see you do that. It really blessed me and I told my friend that it was just like the face of God and what He thinks of us. I bot your album "Home" and it's really helping me thru this election season. My fave song is "Beyond the Sky"!! My fave line in there is: "...Our Father Himself will be our Light. His arms will hold us and with His Hand, He'll wipe away the tears that stain our eyes." I really love the music to the words too. The Lord is ministering to me with your music - all the songs have come to me in snatches and large portions sometimes and although I don't know the music by heart - He does and it calms and comforts me. Your ministering at the Jesus thing brought me to tears quite often and I thank you for your love of the Lord that was so evident to me.
I just finished a stitchery I've worked on for the last 12 years (off and on)- it's the "First Angel of Light" and I put the scripture Numbers 6:24-26 - the Lord bless you and keep you on it. It looks really lovely.
I hope and pray that you have a wonderful fall and that you continue to put out beautiful music to bless the hearts of His people and to bless His heart above all.

Greetings Fernando!
Congratulations on creating another wonderful CD! I just got a copy and am really enjoying it. Is there such thing as a "bad" Fernando Ortega album?? I think not!! I'm curious to know why you don't play piano on all the songs on your CD's. (I think John Andrew Schreiner is great too!) Also, has Cathy Schreiner done any solo work? She has the most gorgeous, soothing voice I've ever heard.
Thanks for your beautiful gift of music! Maybe there'll be a Fernando Ortega Christmas album out soon???

Hello Fernando,
Just like to say just keep on listening to Storm since renditions a la audience participation at Just Give Me Jesus event held in Cardiff, Wales (with Anne Graham-Lotz). Definitely a day that raised the rafters in lots of senses - deepened my appreciation of what He went through for and spurned a local course in south west UK.
I am particularly moved by the lyrics and gently evocative style of the duet Come Ye Sinners, Poor & Needy: 'Jesus ready stands to save you...Sinner will this not suffice?...If you tarry until you're buried, you will never come at all!' How eternally glad I am that He convinced me that the message contained in this music is true 31/01/00 and continues in the business of doing so.
Must ascertain cover off my friend who gave me the CD to find out who writes / sings with you. I am looking forward to hearing more albums as the Lord provides...
Keep on keeping on!
Christian regards to you and your family who I am sure play an instrumental if silent part, Helen.

Fernando, my husband and I pastor a new church here in Frisco, Texas and the past year has truly been a test of our faith and our trust in God. My husband is a Dallas Police officer and was accused of aggrevated assault with a deadly weapon lat year. He was terminated from his job, I have been a stay at home mom for 2 1/2 years with our daughter Adiya. But God- Just yesterday, October 20, 2004 our Lord God showed forth my husband's innocence and he was found not guilty by the jury. Just this morning I was awaken by my alarm clock after this year long ordeal and your song "Take Heart My Friend" was playing. I think you were probably at the chorus. The first words I heard you sing were that "He is my defender in the night." I immeidately went into worship of our magnificent Saviour because He truly is our defender and our vindicator. I wanted to tell you thank you that you as I awaken this morning your music lulled my right back into my normal state of mind- WORSHIP. May God's richest blessings be yours. We ask that you pray for us and our ministry-Praise Fellowship Worship Center Frisco, Texas. If you are ever in town look us up on line and give us a call. I'd love to meet you.
Be Blessed.

Fernando,
Three of your songs have been such a gift to me, my husband and some close friends.
I recorded "Beyond the Sky" today for my friend, Reggie, who succumbed to cancer this week. She was a believer and died in her home with her children and grandchildren around her bed. I am giving a cc of your song to each of them. It is a lullaby of goodbye to this life and expresses the yearning we all have to be with our Father. Thank you, thank you. It's so soothing and full of hope.
Also, my husband wept during your rendition of "Give Me Jesus," in Frederick, MD this past Sunday during your concert at the Weinberg Center. He leaned over and whispered that he sang this song over and over as he walked the military compound near Ashraf, IRAQ. He served there for one year. I packed up many of your CD's for him.
And lastly, dear balladeer, my husband and I love the mountains, especially of the West. The Sangre de Cristos, the Winds, the Snowy Range, Mt. Rainier and more have brought us face to face with the majesty of our Lord's presence. Your music takes us to the Southwest and we love the song about missing your beloved as you gaze upon the San Gabriel's. I thank the Lord Jesus for your music, your songwriting, your gifted band and YOU!

Hi Fernando!
I have to say that your music is truly wonderful. When ever i hear your music it's like it's just me and God. It is truly powerful. My mom got me hooked to your songs a while ago. i saw you in concert when you came to McAllen, Texas with Watermark it was a great concert and i truly felt the prescence of god. since then i have concentrated on my relationship with jesus a lot more. my mom says that when you came to McAllen god had answered one of her prayers. she says that when she was begining to find god she heard one of your songs and thoughtit was beautiful and asked God to let her hear you in concert. God answered it alright and in the right time to cuz if he would have let her see you then when she had asked i wouldn't have been born and i would have missed something wonderful. i'm grateful to God that me and my mom got to see you in concert. hope you decide to come again soon! ***God Bless***

Fernando,
I just wanted to let you know how much your music means to me. I grew kinda ruff, in and out of foster homes. When i was about 19 a freinds mother took the time to get to know me, see past my faults, and share Christ's love with me.Since then I've had my up's and down's but He is always faithful. Alot of times in my failures, imagine God being mad at me- I know this not to be true, and i'm sure it stems from my abusive childhood. So many times i've listened to your song "If you were mine" and i just try to imagine the the Lord singing it to me. Thanks for letting Him work thru your talents and writing that song. I have an oppertunity commin up to play a song in my college groups upcomming Glory Night. I've been trying to think of a song to play and lately your song "Sing to Jesus" has been on my heart. I was hoping,if you wouldn't mind, to play it but i can't find the guitar tabs for the song. If you could email it to me or even let me know where i could find it i'd appreciate it. Once again thank you for being such an inspiring instrument for the Lord's love.
praising Him,

It was just wonderful. My husband and I own The Salvation Christian Shoppe in Purcellville, VA.
Recently, I joined the Shoppe full time, I had been working for a local bank in the HR Department. We love Take Heart My Friend and have adopted it as the theme song of this new venture of working together full time here in the "Jesus Bubble" as my husband refers to the Shoppe.
We've been selling your albums for the past 6 years, but really didn't know what a talented performer you were until we saw your concert.

Hi Fernando,
I have been a fan since I first heard one of your songs on a local Christian station 5 years ago. I went out and bought the CD This Bright Hour. I was hooked! Now my whole family enjoys your music, which always is worshipful and relaxing. We have most of your work now,and never have been disappointed. If any of you get the chance to see Fernando in person (as I did at a Cleveland Just Give Me Jesus weekend with Ann Graham Lotz, and in concert with Watermark) do so! It is amazing the way the music is produced LIVE with just a few instruments and his voice. Powerful stuff indeed. Fernando, keep on singing for the Lord! We love you. Cynthia from Ohio

Mr. Ortega, of the large crowd that attended your Friday night concert in Maryland, I was one of the younger ones in the audience. While in college I am learning much about life, observing many of God's people and being influenced, in one way or another, by them.
Since I am at this impressionable age, I quickly admire those who appear to be walking in the light of Christ and living to serve and glorify Him. To me you are one of those people -- your lyrics express humility. Watching you perform in concert (for the first time!) was a joy for me, because I observed a heart tender toward our Lord. It was an inspiration to me! Humility is not one of my strengths, but I look to those who model it well (like Christ) so that I may develop that quality.
So, thank you, Mr. Ortega, for your service to the Lord in this artistic music ministry. I have been blessed by your lyrics and your character.

It appears that songbooks for your older albums are not available or out of print. Is there a way to purchase a songbook for the album 'Storm'?
I appreciate your ministry, keep on keeping on (Gal 6:9).

Mr. Ortega, we were so privileged to attend the concert at Mountain Christian on Oct. 15. We were 4th row that night, and before you sang "Sleepless Night" you commented about the little girl sleeping in her father's arms--that was my 5-year-old Rachel and me. In brief, I just want to thank you for your profound role in her older sister's life. Sarah (now 11) has fallen asleep to your soothing voice and masterful lyrics for over two years now. It's no small thing to earn the adoration of a child that age, and we're grateful to you for it. In closing, we were so moved by the Friday show that we granted Sarah's requests to see you at the Weinberg Center on Sunday night as well!

Thanks for an uplifting night of music and entertainment! My two daghters and I attended the concert in Salisbury and we were blessed. Without a doubt, your love for Jesus and the music you write to glorify Him is genuine.
By the way, my 11 year old said that your drummer is
"super cool with the drums"!

You don't disappoint! I've had your most recent CD from the week it was released, and I keep it in my truck. My 7-year old son, Noah, begs me to put on "Dragonfly". He knows it by heart, and sang every word with you last nite at the Weinburg.
I bought another CD to convert to tape. I empathize with your lead guitarist. I run constantly to "get away from it all". I'm constantly taking your music with me - you have the most kickin' road runnin' music - I go for miles!
I'll be in prayer for you and the guys. I know the road has to get lonely. Calvary Love to y'all!!

Fernando,
We had the opportunity to visit after JGMJ Seattle revival. I was one of the regional coordinators for the event. Thank you for sharing your story about the childrens book "Parkers Back" (yes, tatoo references and all! ha). You had told me about it after I shared my 13 year old sons name is Parker. Can you give me any idea where I would locate a copy for him? I have looked and looked but to no avail. It would mean a lot and he wanted me to thank you for the CD you and what you worte for him(especially the special note!)- thank you!
I have not stopped receivng comments from the ladies who attended the JGMJ revival. They were extremely blessed by your spirit filled worship. Not one left untouched by your tremendous gift of song! I thank you for sharing the joy of Jesus with all of us during that very special weekend! It changed lives and many were brought into the Kingdom- Praise God!
God bless you as you travel and share with others your gifts!

Mr Ortega, I was grateful to attend your concert in the Baltimore area last night. Truth is, I'm not that familiar w/ your music -- don't listen much to christian music & very rarely go to any sort of concert. But last night my father was unable to go to your event, and my little sister needed an escort -- & there I was, very much enjoying what you were doing up there.
I felt bad for you, being dragged back out for an encore, since you had this cold & were looking ready to have it over with. But the gospel packed in just the 1st line of that closing piece (one of your songs that I actually had heard before), "Jesus King of angels, heaven's light", was a wonderful parting gift from you.
Thanks very much for your work.

My wife and I just returned from your show at Mountain Christian Church in Belair, Maryland....WOW!! What a great time we had sitting in the front row, singing along and feeling the wonderful message you provided. You are definitely in the right place where Christ can use you for his good service. I thought this was the best concert on record even though you were under the weather. I must say, now I finally realize how special your music is and why my wife and I have every CD! Incredible show and if anyone out there has not been to Fern's show, HE IS AWESOME. I hope I show up in one of your pictures taken by you at the show but if not, I am blessed for even being there for the experience. Don't ever stop what you are doing, the Lord is using you! I struggle with General Anxiety Disorder so if you ever feel anxious, don't hesitate to drop me a line...the Lord has given me this challenge and I love passing along tips for continued success in dealing with the issues...Sleepness Lights! I was blessed to see and hear you perform last night at Mountain Christian Church in Maryland. How the Lord has blessed you and your band with such great gifts. I was inspired by your down-to-earth nature and your humility. Jesus shines through you and in this way, you are an example for many. I grew up in the Methodist Church and grew up singing the wonderful hymns that you have on your "Hymns of Praise" CD. I currrently attend an evangelical Church and despite my relative 'youth' of 29 years, I cherish the hymns that you have honored. They remind me of my childhood, my first 'Church' experiences and they are a wonderful reminder that the message never tires... that Jesus is savior. God Bless You and your wife and your band! Thank you for a wonderful performance last night.

I was given a ticket to your concert last night at mountain christian church as a birthday present from my daughter. She knew that you are my favorite musician. I must say IT WAS AWSOME!! What a wonderful talent God has given you. Your drummer is one of the best I've heard in all of my 58 years. I will keep you in my prayers. Thank you for the experience. Rena

I was introduced to Fernando's music about 2 years ago and I love his songs and music. Breaking of the Dawn #9 on this cd mskes me cry because it reminds of my family and my mother and how her 8 children loved her so much. She died at 47 years old in a car wreck that was caused by a drunken driver.
The Storm is another of my favorites and I replay #11 on that cd over and over again. I truly true your cd's.
I would like to know if you will be performing anywhere in Texas. I want to come see you if I am lucky enough to do so.
MY brother and his wife do a music ministry when they are financially able and they love your cd's. They both sing and play several musical instruments. They live in Lexington, Kentucky. My sister-in-law use to be a professional singer and her name was Terrah Stone. My brother is Jim Merritt. Terrah has written some christian songs that The Lord gave her the words to as they were traveling. She was asking God why there were so many songs about the Golden Gates of Heaven, so she was just given all the songs. She hasn't been able to record them because they weren't able to financially. She also had a lung problem and for a while she coudn't sing because she wasn't strong enough. But now when they can they perform for our Lord.
Please let me know if you will be performing in Texas.
Thank You!

Thank you so very much for the blessing of you and your music! I was privileged to attend the "Just Give Me Jesus" rally in Seattle on Oct. 1-2. What a spiritually uplifting, dynamic, thought-provoking experience. And your music was incredible! You lead us all into the presence of God with such thoughtful, graceful beauty. He has gifted you in mighty ways. Thank you for serving Him with your incredible talent. May God continue to bless you as you share the depth of your faith and vision and encourage your audience to deepen our walk with Him. God bless you. Thank you.

Around midnight a month ago I was driving home from work, listening to Moody broadcast and heard a haunting melody. I remembered the artist's name but not the title of the song. The next week I bought the 6 Fernando CDs I could find - just to make sure I got "THAT" song - and they're all great. How refreshing to listen to an artist who goes right into the throne room of God. No pomp or show - just substance. Brother, you are set apart for the Lord's service - never compromise. We love what you are doing!

Thank you so much for coming to Laporte. I really enjoyed talking with you and the show was great! I really appreciate you coming here and working with my dad. I haven't seen him that happy in awhile. You really helped him fulfill a long time dream of promoting Christian music. Thanks again and I hope you come back soon! You are always welcome here!

I have been dealing with depresssion for a few years now. I order some Christian tapes from a tape club over a year ago. They sent me yours by mistake. I put it in a drawer not knowing who you were or your songs. The depression had gotten bad so I started listening to CD's at work on headphones. I played some of my WOW ones, but found out at 44 that I was out of touch with some of the younger geared songs.
The Lord led me to that drawer with your CD in it for over a year untouched. It has been the greatest things to help me. Your songs have touched my heart and spirit like nothing else. Thank you letting the Lord use you as a tool to work through. I am still dealing with depression but I am not alone, God is walking through this valley with me, and He is using you to help me. Thank you!

PRAYER OF NEW LIFE
Lord Jesus, I confess that I´m a siner and I need your forgiveness. I believe that You are the son of God and that You came in this world in flesh. I confess whith my lips that you, Jesus, are Lord and I believe in my heart that God rised You up from the death. I accept you like my unique Savor in my life. Lord, integrate me in the Christ´s Body and please, write my new name in the Book of Life. Thank You, Lord. Amém. (Speak, Rm 10:9,10)

Fernando,
Your music has been a real blessing in my walk with the Lord. Storm got me through some tough times after losing my husband at the age of 42. You have the voice of an angel, and I just know the Lord is thrilled when he hears you lifting his name in praise.
I was at the Just Give Me Jesus conference in Chicago, and I am organizing a group to come praise with you when you come to Moody in November.
Praising the Lord with you brother!

I had a friend copy your Spanish cd for me and I have been playing it for my employees, all whom are from Mexico. I am in the process of ordering my own and noticed that you only have one cd out of ten. What a crime! Sometimes music makes a great opener of conversation for the purpose of sharing the gospel. Please consider releasing the other cds in Spanish.
Thanks

Hey Fern!
This is the climb-in-the-church-rafters-while-you-tinkle-on-the-ivories buddy, Brad! I was grading papers here at Covington Middle School and needed a brain break, so I checked out your revised website. Very Cool!
Thanks for visiting our state last weekend. I saw the eruption of Mt. St. Helens on Friday and took my Science students out for the show: Our Creator at work! I've climbed up to the rim before, and was curious what that hole was, on the west side of the new dome, inside the crater. That's the same hole I saw on the news with all the steam gushing up from it.
I can't wait to buy your new CD. I saw the title "Mildred Madelyn Johnson" and remembered when she lived and cared for my grandma for awhile in Albuquerque, after my grandpa died. One night, a friend of mine that plays violin went over with me to her house and serenaded both of them with a lovely classical tune that my grandma identified immediately, while both of them listened in their beds with their nightcaps on. Mildred always had a welcoming, gracious spirit every time she greeted me at the college group at church.
Have you considered performing in Vancouver, WA? We'd love to have you visit at Crossroads Community Church. Phillips, Craig, and Dean are singing there tonight. Jason Ritchie is the worship leader (360-256-9711).
I keep in touch with the exciting journey the Lord's leading you along and am encouraged with the magnitude of influence He's given you to proclaim Jesus across this nation and around the world.
I appreciate you giving me a ride in '87 when I was walking down Wyoming Blvd, in Albuquerque, and taking me out to a Chinese restuarant. You were also my first supporter, when you wrote out a check for $75 at Annie's Soup Kitchen, when I joined Campus Crusade.
God's blessings to you and Margie.
Adios!

Heard a song of yours this morning 10/8/04 on WAFG(Ft Laud.)
Dealt with fear and waking in the morning to a red sun.
Looking for the name. Think it may be from your CD Storm and may be the title song. I will find the info. It really hit home with me.
Great song!!

HOla Fernando,
Me encanta tu musica. Una prima de Whashinton DC le regalo un CD tuyo a mi hermana y al ella escuclarlo me dijo: "escucha este CD te va a encantar". Dicho y hecho.

I hope you will remember me! I gave you a blue WOW Worship CD at the JGMJ, Seattle. Tom Veigh from Maranatha had told me we should use your "Give Me Jesus" for the Theme Song for the revival. Guess Tom isn't up on what you are doing! My song, "In His Time", is on the CD...I just wanted to meet and greet you! I pray God's richest blessings on you! Hello there Ortega..I'm so very sorry I missed the "Just Give Me Jesus" in Seattle. I knew it was going to be super and told everyone they were going to be blessed greatly!! One of my friends returned from that weekend with your music along with Ann's teaching and she has shared both with me. Next best thing to being there. I have looked high and low for some time for your CD of hymns and look forward to having it when I locate it. You are used wonderfully by the Lord and I do plan to see you in concert eventually! Keep up the excellent work! God bless you, Margee and your home abundantly!

It is Balloon Fiesta time here in Albuquerque! So many colors dot the sky.
Yesterday I was driving out and about, listening to your new CD, turned a corner and right there flying above me was a hot air balloon that read "California Dreamin."
